Artist and K-12 Art teacher, Sherri Jones, combines bright colors with creative painting techniques building vibrant depictions of life and nature. Her love of the outdoors, art history and color are fundamental in her art and teaching as she strives to inspire ALL to create and BE original. Her "Significant Bloom" collection was recently featured at the LBJ Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas.
Wildflowers are central in my art. So routinely a part of our Texas landscape and seen as weeds by many, they hold a silent truth. Each blossom is an important element in the whole… the beauty originally intended. My wildflowers symbolize the crucial part of the individual. Every unlikely bloom offers a role to the seemingly insignificant. Communicating this unspoken truth through excellence and honesty is what I seek through painting and teaching.
Robert Louis Stevenson states, “To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying amen to what the world tells you, you ought to prefer, is to keep your soul alive.” Sharing the value of each soul is what I long to do through my art.
